![]() Accurate Industrial carries several conveyor belt fastener options such as stainless steel, high-tensile steel, plastic, and Megalloy. Selecting the correct fastener, squaring the belt, and correctly installing the lacing are the keys to smooth, safe performance and maximum productivity. Specific types of belts are fabricated to accept certain types of fasteners. To make the right fastener choice for lacing new conveyor belts or repairing of existing belts, consider the belt’s material and application. ![]() Unlike endless splicing, laced conveyor belts are fitted with mechanical conveyor belt fasteners to form the continuous loop required for operation. I imagine if I contacted somebody at Flexco they would know if they would work in a tube type conveyor? Sure looks simple enough to install. Many manufacturing, processing and packaging applications call for laced conveyor belts that can be disconnected and removed for maintenance, repair, and replacement. These are for 10" wide belts, but say they can be shortened for narrower belts. Posted 07:29 (#5302410 - in reply to #5301598) Subject: RE: Splice Kit for Conveyor belt? Nothing to say the alligator pin couldn't be swapped out for a small cable or even a Mato lace which has some flex. Cant say I have any personal experience with them on conveyors. as long as the belt still fits in the tube with the more solid lace I would think it would work. I thought that at first too but I have seen it done multiple times. Posted 16:04 (#5301510 - in reply to #5301485) Subject: RE: Splice Kit for Conveyor belt? I'm thinking Alligator wouldn't be good for a belt that runs in a tube due to the stiff "wire" lace. Posted 15:49 (#5301485 - in reply to #5301412) Subject: RE: Splice Kit for Conveyor belt? Im a dealer so email me if you want me to look into it. The tool and splices are available from any A&I dealer or on ebay.Įdit to add: I doubt the tool or splices for 8" are available on ebay. We have been running them on balers for years. Deere splices will be spendy and the tool even more spendy. The tool is cheap and it can be done on the machine with nothing more than a hammer. I thought I might stop by my local JD dealer and see what they may have, I imagine they have the splices, but dont know about the rest of what I might need? Any information would be appreciated! (lol )Īnyway, what is the currant way to splice these conveyor belts? I was hoping by now, there was some sort of different way of splicing these without removing from the conveyor and using a shop vice? Seems to me, if there was a clamp of some sort where you could insert the appropriate length of splice/looms, then tighten down with an impact gun, sure would be handy! I know Crustbuster has a splice kit listed, but dont know what all it involves. I know whatever apparatus we used to use for the baler belts is the wrong size, besides, I looked, I couldnt find anything in the shop that looked familiar. Our old baler belts were about 7 1/4" wide. At that time, I remember we put both ends of belt into a clamp of some sort, inserted the clips, and then tightened up in the vise, thus installing the clips in both sides of belt. ![]() About 30 years ago we removed all the belts from a JD baler and cut about 6" off and respliced all the belts. So, didnt know exactly how this is done, currently? The belt is 8" wide. I figure I better get it repaired, before it comes completely apart, right in the middle of unloading a hopper of soybeans. ![]() On my Crustbuster/Speedking seed tender, a couple of the wire loops have torn on one corner of belt.
